UK Alliance of Wedding Planners (UKAWP) styled photoshoot for You and Your Wedding Magazine

Last year I was lucky enough to take part in a styled photoshoot organised by the UK Alliance of Wedding Planners (UKAWP) alongside a lovely bunch of other Alliance members. The overall creative direction was pre-defined, with each of us tasked with styling a specific part of a wedding day. Little old Heart Shaped Weddings was put in charge of making the wedding reception bar area look fab (yep, yep, Heart Shaped Weddings and bars are a perfect match!).

With a style theme of "luxurious, elegant and chic" and a colour palette theme of "teal, dusty aqua, bridal blush, sand dollar, marsala, bitter chocolate, antique gold" I was all set.

The end result was having my work featured in the November 2015 edition of You and Your Wedding Magazine.

Now, I'm a tad old school - I still have a paper diary, I still print pictures and put them in albums and, as much as I love Pinterest, I have to cut out pictures so I can lay them out and make a "real" moodboard to get an authentic feel for my ideas.

Box Seventy Seven sprung to mind as soon as I was tasked with the bar - I had met Aaron who owns Box Seventy Seven previously and thought of him and his awesome vintage mobile pop-up bar as soon as I was given the bar area to design - luckily he could do the date and was completely on-board with my vision for "flowering up" his bar.

And then there were the flowers. The oh so gorgeous GORGEOUS flowers! Having got the green light after sending proposed visuals over to Chantal Flores, she and her team delivered perfection and created flower magic, exactly what I had in mind, wrapping stems all across the lighting beam of Aaron's bar.

Now about that old school thing I mentioned earlier - Given the brief, I knew instantly that I wanted to use mismatched champagne saucers to sit on top of the bar. I'm borderline obsessed with these, and just might have done my happy dance when Classic Crockery let me borrow theirs. I also featured some vintage coloured glasswear and decanters (you've got to love a decanter or two...or three!).

To incorporate the gold from the colour palette I added some glittery drink stirrers, sprayed an old metal tray gold, sourced some straws and found some lovely frames to house the gorgeous bar signs created for the shoot by Sincerely May.

Ahem, all I can say about the barnet is...there was drizzle. Drizzle isn't my best friend!

Here's the bar in all it's glory - romantic with an edge. A final big thank you to Box Seventy Seven, Chantal Flores, Classic Crockery, Sincerely May and Fulham Palace.
